AI consulting in Annapolis and Anne Arundel County

I live and work in Anne Arundel County. In August 2026 I ran a baseline study of what AI assistants tell homeowners here when they ask who to hire. Half the established firms in the study were never named at all.

What it is

AI consulting for small businesses inside driving distance: Annapolis, Severna Park, Pasadena, Crofton, Edgewater, Millersville, Glen Burnie and Davidsonville, plus Baltimore and Columbia. The three services are the same ones on the rest of this site, with one local addition. For a business that sells to people nearby, part of the work is now finding out what AI assistants say about you when a customer asks who to hire.

I am one person, not an agency, and I am close enough to sit at your table for the first conversation. Zim Apps LLC is a Maryland single-member LLC registered with the state. There is no sales team and nothing on the back end.

What I've actually done

In August 2026 I published a baseline study of this county's landscaping industry. I asked an AI assistant with live web search the 30 questions an Anne Arundel homeowner actually asks, and logged every company it named and every source it cited. The 18 firms tested were independent, owner-operated, five or more years in business, with a real website and a review presence. Three findings:

Being missing from an AI answer is not a lost ranking. It is a call that never happens, and one you never find out about.

Beyond the county study: I built and ship Tiller, a live AI lawn coach with a rules engine that blocks wrong answers, a Stripe billing rail running in production, and 125 verified guide pages. For a client's online store I diagnosed a search-indexing problem that looked like a thousand-page content crisis and turned out to be about 86 broken pages plus one theme setting.

How an engagement runs

  1. Coffee, in person. Annapolis or anywhere in the county. Where do the hours actually go, and what do customers already ask you?
  2. A small first build, fixed scope. Quoted before it starts, working on your real data before you commit to anything bigger.
  3. Handoff and enablement. Your people run it. We grow it only if the first piece proved itself.

Who it's for

Local owner-operated businesses: home services and trades, professional practices, shops and small e-commerce, anyone whose customers are within an hour of here. The common thread is a business where the owner is still the bottleneck and the marketing budget is real money rather than a line item.

Questions I get asked

Do you work in person?

Yes. I live in Anne Arundel County, and the first conversation is in person anywhere in the county or greater Baltimore. The work after that is a mix of on-site and remote.

Which areas do you cover?

Annapolis, Severna Park, Pasadena, Crofton, Edgewater, Millersville, Glen Burnie and Davidsonville, plus Baltimore, Columbia and the surrounding Washington DC metropolitan area.

Is AI visibility just SEO with a new name?

They overlap heavily, and that is the honest good news. A complete business profile, clear markup describing what you do and where, and real pages for the services and towns you serve all help in ordinary search today and in AI answers tomorrow.

How do I find out where my business stands?

Email me and I will tell you what I see. If you are already in good shape I will say that, because I do not sell ads and there is nothing on the back end.

If you are local, start with a conversation

The county baseline says the category is wide open. It does not say what to do about your company. That takes ten minutes of talking about your actual business.
